Abstract
696,939. X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 29, 1952 [March 3, 1951], No. 5375/52. Class 98 (i). X-ray apparatus comprising a table 1 for the patient, an X-ray tube 12 and a fluorescent screen 17 which are secured to the table so as to be together displaceable longitudinally and transversely parallel to the table top, and in which the table top is located between the X-ray tube and the screen, the screen 17 being counter-balanced for movement towards or away from the X-ray tube 12, is characterized in that the X-ray tube 12 and screen 17 are coupled by a releasable coupling 22, 23 between the carriage 4 for the X-ray tube and the screen 17 which allows the screen to be separately displaced transversely parallel to the table top independently of the screen counterbalancing means. The carriage 4 has a box like part 10 and channel-sectioned frame members, and has rollers 5, 6, 7, 8 engaging a rail 3 and a channel-sectioned member 9 on the table 1. A carrier 11 for the X-ray tube 12 runs on rollers on the frame 4. A frame 21 carrying the fluorescent screen 17 has channel-sectioned side members engaging rollers 20 on supports 19 slidable in box 10 and connected to counterweights in the box. A rod 22 connects the frame 21 to a bar 16 fixed to the tube carrier 11 and passing through box 10, so that the screen 17 and tube 12 can be moved as a unit laterally of the table 1. Rod 22 is fixed to frame 21 by a hinged saddle 23 so as to be readily detachable, to allow screen 17 to be moved clear of table 1.
