Abstract
631,571. Rontgen-ray apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CALDWELL, J. T. Dec. 4, 1947, No. 32068. [Class 98 (i)] In X-ray apparatus of the kind provided with' a fluorescent screen and a cassette holder on opposite sides of a diagnosis table, the cassette holder, together with its associated Bucky grid, if any, travels substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the table top, and the fluorescent screen is carried by the cassette or a part moving therewith. The screen may be carried by, and preferably hinged to, a supporting member which is adjustable on a part fixed to the cassette or its carrier. As shown, the top 1 of a table, which may be pivoted, carries lower rails 3 parallel to the longitudinal axis of the table. A square metal framework 2, having roller bearings at its four corners whereby it travels on the rails 3, carries the cassette and Bucky grid, if any. A rectangular section metal member 5 (not shown) slides in a casting 4 fixed to one side of framework 2 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, and carries at its outer end a casting 6, the upper end of which lies in the plane of the table top 1. Bores 7 extend from this end of the casting 6 almost to its other end, parallel to the longitudinal axis of the casting, which is perpendicular to the plane of the table top 1. Two tubular members 8 slide in the bores 7, and are united at their upper ends by a member 9, preferably in two parts hinged together, which carries the fluorescent screen 10, which is offset from the cassette. Any or all of the sliding members may be counterbalanced by weights. Specification 631,576 is referred to.
