Abstract

726,590. X-ray apparatus. SIEMENSREINIGER WERKE AKT.-GES. April 13, 1953 [April 12, 1952], No. 10019/53. Class 98 (1). Apparatus including a tiltable table for the patient and a fluorescent screen in a rectangular frame which moves with the table, includes an X-ray impervious screening device comprising a guide rail extending alongside at least two sides of the frame substantially between diagonally opposed corners and radiation protecting means (which may comprise a number of overlapping lead-impregnated rubber flaps) displaceable along the guide rail as the couch is tilted. As shown, a tubular rail 5 is mounted on the frame 2 of a fluorescent screen 1, carried by a tiltable couch (not shown) of an X-ray apparatus. A screening device comprises a number of overlapping panels 4. Each panel is fixed to a shaped plate 8 (Fig. 3) on which a roller 6 riding on rail 5 is mounted. The panels 4 are spaced apart by plates 11 fixed to the pins 9 of adjacent rollers 6. A spring 12 within the rail 5 is connected to a support 7 at one end, and the other end projects through a slot in rail 5 and is connected to the guide roller 6 at the end of the screening device. When the couch is tilted, the screening device moves along rail 5 so that it is always suspended in front of the observer of the screen.
