Abstract

680,282. Resilient supports; spring arrangements. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. March 22, 1949 [March 25, 1948], No. 7757/49. Class 108 (iii). In a resilient support for apparatus comprising substantially blockshaped elements of rubber or the like, the support comprises at least two parallel pairs of channel - shaped rigid members with the hollow sides of the members of each pair facing but not touching each other, at least two block-like resilient elements having edges which fit in gutter-shaped recesses provided on the channel-shaped members being interposed between the members of each of the pairs and being fastened thereto without any further attachment means. In the arrangement shown, as applied to a resilient support for a cathode-ray oscilloscope, H-shaped resilient blocks 11 are clamped between pairs of channelshaped rails 3, 7 and 5, 9 respectively, the rails 3 and 5 being secured to the underside of the oscilloscope. Successive blocks are arranged with the vertical sections thereof at rightangles to one another. The vertical section of each block may be tubular. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the lower flange of each rubber block is housed in a sheet iron casing welded to the inside of the lower rail. Excessive movement between the upper and lower rails is prevented by means of a bolt which is secured to the lower rail and which passes through an apertured bridge-piece within the lower rail and is screwed into the underside of the apparatus. The blocks 11 may consist of soft rubber or polyvinyl chloride.
