A typewriter or like stand according to the parent Specification includes an H-shaped lower frame 1, the cross-bar 2 of which forms a foot rest, and has its upper frame 13 offset with respect to the lower frame 1 and the vertical bars 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. Between the extensions 5 of the H-frame side bars 3 and the castors 7 are fitted elastomeric shook absorber pads 8 which extend beyond the rims of the extensions 5 to act as buffers. Distributed holes 18, 18<SP>1</SP> facilitate fixing of office machines to the table. Guides 19, 20 facilitate attachment of lamps, filing-boxes and working flaps.
