Abstract

A metal framed chair has adjustable seat and back, joined by a linkage to allow each part to take up independent positions for maximum comfort. The seat support frame (10) is pivoted (11) to the base (10). The back grame (18) is pivoted (17) to the seat support frame and has a cushioning spring (16). A telescopic damper (15) is mounted between the back of the seat support frame (10) and a pivot on the base. Two slotted links (25, 26) are fixed to seat and back frames to act as limit stops. They can normally move about their pivot (27) but may be locked together by a handle, if required.
