Abstract
927,012. Machinery frames. SOC. GENEVOISE D'INSTRUMENTS DE PHYSIQUE. Feb. 5, 1960 [Feb. 25, 1959], No. 4146/60. Class 80 (4). A longitudinally slidable member 9 is carried by an upper frame member 8 which is supported on a lower frame member 1 by three balls 5, 6, 7. The ball 5 is located between frusto-cones 26 machined in plates 27, Fig. 5, secured in recesses in the frames 1 and 8, the ball 6 is located between grooves 28, Fig. 6, aligned with the ball 5 so as to have one degree of freedom, and the ball 7 is located between two parallel plane surfaces in order to have two degrees of freedom. The lower frame 1 is carried by three feet 2 which are vertically aligned with the balls 5, 6, 7. A cross-member 18, having a slideway for two sliders 20, 21, is supported from two uprights 4, 4a by three balls 15, 16, 17. The ball 15 is held between two frusto-cones mounted respectively in a lateral projection 30 of the member 18 and a recess 31 at the top of the upright 4a. The ball 17 is mounted in a vertical surface of the upright 4a and is engaged by a plate 32 rigid with the underside of the cross-member 18. At the top of the upright 4, the ball 16 is located between two grooves aligned with the ball 15. The invention is applied to a comparing machine.
