[Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXII] Means for suppressing vibrations in supports for instruments, instrument panels, cameras, &c., particularly when used on aircraft, comprises successive sets, preferably pairs, of resilient cushions, e.g. of rubber, rubber substitutes, felt, fabric, &c. with a neutral axis of one set lying at an angle to a neutral axis of a succeeding set, the sets of cushions being connected by relatively fixed, rigid members which change'the direction of application of vibrations between the sets. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3, the support for the instrument board 10 of an aircraft comprises rigid brackets 12, 13, 14 separated by pairs of resilient cushions 15, 15 and 16, 16, arranged at right angles to each other and provided with supplementary cushions 15<1>, 16' covered by pressure plates 20 held down by steadying bolts 22 which extend through the cushions and through clearance holes in the brackets. Excessive vibrations of the instrument board 10, which is suspended from the brackets 14, Fig. 3, are absorbed by fixed buffers 25, Fig. 2, near the lower corners of the board. In another construction, Figs. 4, 5, the object to be supported is clamped in trunnion brackets 36 mounted on cushions 35 supported by flanges 34 on an inner frame 33 which rests on cushions 32 in turn supported by base flanges 31 on a main frame 30. The cushions are readily removable, the cushions 32, for example, each being moulded with longitudinal grooves 40 into which.fit ridges 41 on the adjacent flanges 31, 34. In other constructions, the supported agent, particularly cameras, are clamped in brackets, which extend either below or above the support, flanges on the brackets resting on the cushions 35.
