[Also in Group X] A supporting column 1, Fig. 2, for a paperhanging rack (see Group X) as secured to a pair of household steps by a band clip 24, Figs. 2, 4 having outwardly directed wings 27 engaging with a slotted flat collar 28 secured to wooden block 30 which is held on the uppermost tread 31 by means of a block 32 having slotted plates 33 through which pass fixing bolts 35 passing also through the block 30, the blocks 30, 32 having lugs 36, 37 which grip the edges of the tread 31. The slotted plates 33 permit adjustment of the blocks to fit treads of differing width.
