[Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii)] Back rest apparatus for use with bedsteads comprises a supporting frame having telescopic legs 1,. 2 which are transversely connected by cross rails 3, connected longitudinally by detachable arm rails 5.. A back rest 6 is pivotally supported between the arm rails 5 and is longitudinally adjustable thereon by means of hinged bearing blocks 9. A desk 12 is slidably attached to the arm rails by inclinably supporting the hinged top 13 by means of a stay 14.
