In a refrigerated self-service display case of the type having a storage space defined by a front baffle 14, a bottom 12 and an open top 8 across which a curtain of air passes and is then drawn through an inlet 18, a front duct 16 and a bottom duct 22 by a blower 24 which propels it over an evaporator 32 and then back to the open top 8, the tendency for snow and ice to deposit in the ducts is reduced by the provision of heaters 50, 52, 54, 58 adjacent the opening 18, at the bottom of the duct 16, in the duct 22 and adjacent the blower 24 respectively. These heaters may be in the form of pipes connected in series or parallel and conveying'warm liquid refrigerant from the condenser to the expansion valve. Alternatively, they may comprise electric heaters. Specifications 630,579 and 630,580 are referred to.
