Abstract
694,278. Capsuling bottles &c. CROWN CORK CO., Ltd., SMITH, R. W., and BECK, N. April 22, 1952 [July 31, 1951], No. 18133/51. Class 125(ii) In apparatus in which closures such as crown corks are fed from a hopper 12 down a shoot to a vertically-reciprocating closuring head 11, the shoot being divided into an upper part 13 fixed to the hopper and a lower part 14 reciprocating with the head, means being provided to allow closures to pass from part 13 to part 14 only when the, head is in its raised position, upward motion of the part 14 causes a roller 20 carried thereon and guided by a guide block 18, 19 to spread apart two fingers 27 which normally project into the path of the closures in part 13; so releasing the closures. When the head descends, the fingers are returned to intercept the closures by a spring 28. The fingers are carried pivotally by the guide block 18. The shoot is rectangular in cross-section, the short sides being closed by the fingers, and at the end parts, the outer side of the part 14 and the inner side of the part 13 are closed by extensions 25, 23 of the parts 13, 14 respectively. A guard plate 29 surrounds the junction of the shoot parts.
