Abstract

1,010,440. Closing filled bags. KWIK LOK CORPORATION. Sept. 22, 1964, No. 38605/64. Heading B8C. [Also in Division B6] The machine, for gathering the mouth of a filled bag into a recess in a closure tag, is substantially the same as that described in Specification 1,013,320, but differs in detail. In particular, the strip of closures is fed downwards by a vertically reciprocating slide 210 having a spring element; the outwardlyprojecting end 211 of which engages the slots 355 between tags. A spring 241 prevents backfeeding and a detent 253 engages the penultimate tag when the lowermost, after the bag neck has been gathered into it, is broken clear of the strip by further downwards movement of the portion 211. Stationary members 257, 260 support the tag during bag neck gathering. The printing element operating means is also modified (see Division B6). If the bag and tag do not pass clear of the clutch-operating trigger due to jamming, means is provided to stop the machine.
