694,219. Centrifugal separators. ALPINE AKT. - GES. EISENGIESSEREI UND MASCHINENFABRIK. May 30, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 12702/51. Class 23 [Also in Group XXVI] A machine for separating coarse from fine material, using a stream of air as a c arrying medium, is provided with an annular separating passage 10 with lateral walls formed by rotating discs 3, 12 driven by a shaft 2. Material to be separated is fed through an inlet 4 with a stream of air -and driven outwards by vanes 6, on the disc 3, whilst a second airstream enters through a passage 8. The latter stream charged with fine material, flows inwards through a separating space 10 where a rotary movement is imparted by vanes or pins 11 which are fixed between discs 3 and 12. Vanes 13, carried by the disc 12, project outwards beyond the end of vanes 11 and impel a stream of air 15 outwards, charged with a small quantity of fine material, to meet the incoming stream entering the space 10. The coarse material is centrifuged out through the passage 8 and freed from any adhering fine material by the airstream 7, the coarse material being collected at an outlet 16. The fine material flows through an inlet 17 to a blower wheel 18 and through a spiral casing 19 to a collector.
