Abstract
Powders, e.g. dyestuffs, are made non-dusting by intimately mixing with the powder and leaving therein a mineral oil and an emulsifying agent, the amount of such mineral oil and emulsifying agent being insufficient to prevent the powder flowing freely. The mineral oil may be kerosene or an SAE 50 lubricating oil. A vegetable oil may also be present. Sulphonated castor or neatsfoot oil may be used as emulsifying agents. The dyes may be of the type used as dispersions for dyeing cellulose acetate rayon or nylon or water-soluble dyes such as haematin. The mineral oil and emulsifying agent may be added directly or in a volatile solvent or during spray-drying. In examples: (1) a dye powder comprising 4-(p-aminobenzeneazo) - 1 - naphthylamine and sulphonated urea-cresol-formaldehyde condensate (see Specification 510,515) is mixed with mineral oil and ammonia neutralized sulphonated cod oil; (2) Suldura Black (Colour Index No. 978) is mixed with a soluble oil comprising mineral oil, oleic acid and triethanolamine; (3) Benzanil Black is mixed with a soluble oil comprising a glycol fatty acid ester, mineral oil, and olive oil.ALSO:Powders, chalk, are made non-dusting by intimately mixing with the powder and leaving therein a mineral oil and emulsifying agent, the amount of such mineral oil and emulsifying agent being insufficient to prevent the powder flowing freely. The mineral oil may be kerosene or an S.A.E. 50 lubricating oil. A vegetable oil may be also be present. Sulphonated castor or neatsfoot oil may be used as emulsifying agents. The mineral oil and emulsifying agent may be added directly or in a volatile solvent or during spra-drying.ALSO:Powders, e.g. cement, are made non-dusting by intimately mixing with the powder and leaving therein a mineral oil and an emulsifying agent, the amount of such mineral oil and emulsifying agent being insufficient to prevent the powder flowing freely. The mineral oil may be kerosene or an S.A.E.50 lubricating oil. A vegetable oil may also be present. Sulphonated castor or neats-foot oil may be used as emulsifying agents. The mineral oil and emulsifying agent may be added directly or in a volatile solvent or during spray-drying. In examples Portland cement is mixed with a glycol fatty acid ester and an automobile lubricant of grade S.A.E.30.
