Abstract
A coating composition for making a coated paper such as carbon paper comprises a mixture of an arylide of a high molecular weight organic acid, a wax and solvent or both, and a colouring matter. The arylides include those derived from aniline, xylidine or naphthylamine and from lauric, stearic, behenic and oleic acids, while stearic naphthalide, lauric anilide, palmitic naphthalide, stearic xylidide and stearic orthochloroanilide are specified. Specified solvents are lauric, lyristic, palmitic, stearic, behenic, oleic and ricinoleic acids, while a portion of the solvent may be refined spindle oil. Specified waxes are petrolatum, carnauba and beeswax, while specified colouring matters are carbon black, red oxide of iron, dyestuff lakes, azo pigments and basic dyestuffs such as Victoria Blue and Methyl Voilet.
