A tank vehicle has a container 1 divided into compartments 6, 7, 8, and provided with supporting members 3, 4, 5, welded thereto to form closed channels or pipes inclining toward the rear and taps 12. The members 3, 4, 5 provide a self-supporting arrangement for the container so that the use of a separate frame on the vehicle chassis becomes unnecessary. The compartments 6, 7, 8 are each provided with outlet ports 9, 10, 11, respectively. The rear end of the container rests on a trailer chassis and the front end is supported by a transverse girder 16 on the chassis of a mechanical horse 20. A plate 19 sloping downwardly towards the rear of the vehicle provides a base-plate for rollers 18 on the girder 16, and an articulation 23 is provided. The container may be removed from the horse by disconnecting it and then driving the horse away so that the rollers 18 move down the plate 19 allowing the container to settle on a prepared trestle. Baffle plates 24 are provided in the channels 3, 4, 5, and strengthening ribs 25 are welded on or between the channel walls and the base of the container. The channels may be formed by a common box longitudinally divided, may be made in the form of tubes, or may be disposed on the inside of the container base, or partly inside and partly outside. Where, for example, the container has no internal dividing walls, channels without individual outlets may be connected to a further supporting channel.
