Abstract

692,495. Disinfecting closets. CLERK. R. C. Aug. 15, 1951 [Aug. 18, 1950], No. 20561/50. Class 26 In a dispenser for deodorant or detergent liquid to a water-clcset flushing system, a metering chamber is provided above the liquid reservoir and connected to it by a duct, and a connector is fitted into the flushing pipe and arranged so that pressure fluctuation in it fills the metering chamber from the reservoir and subsequently delivers a metered dose of liquid to the flushing pipe after the flushing is finished. As shown, the connecter 10 delivers part of the flushing water to a mixing chamber 16 which already contains a measure of liquid left there after the previous flushing. Air is displaced through a pipe 21 into the reservoir 4 and forces liquid up the pipe 19 and into the metering chamber 17. When flushing is completed, the mixture of water-liquid is syphoned into the flushing pipe by the pipe 10, and liquid from the space 17<SP>1</SP> empties back into the reservoir, leaving the chamber 17 full of liquid. This liquid then slowly empties through a small hole 25 into the mixing chamber ready for the next flushing. In alternative apparatus the metering chamber is filled by utilizing the decreased pressure in the mixing chamber after the flushing is finished to draw up liquid, or by use of a suction head in the flushing pipe a metering chamber may be filled during flushing and subsequently allowed to drain slowly into the flushing pipe.
