Abstract
691,428. Looms with inclined shed. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Feb. 23, 1951 [March 3, 1950], No. 4453/51. Classes 142(i) and 142(ii) In a loom having no upper structure the shed is inclined downwardly at the front of the loom to enable an operator to reach from the front of the loom to the warp stop motion. The shed may be inclined from 10 degrees to 45 degrees and the cloth passing over the breast beam 9 is protected by a shield 19. The invention may be applied to a gripper shuttle loom in. which the shuttle returns outside the shed. In an alternative arrangement, the loom may have gripping devices at the ends of rods which transfer the weft, at the centre of the shed, from one device to the other. The cloth in front of the fell is supported by a member 15. Rods 37 actuate the inclined heald frames and, when of light construction, can be duplicated by bars 47. The heald frames are lifted by members 27 moved by bell crank members 39 and are guided by members 43 having recesses to accommodate the side struts of the frames. Alternatively, the members 27 may be connected to the side struts and blocks having recesses to accommodate the upper and lower rails of the frames may form guides.
