Abstract

690,856. Pneumatic conveyers. CHEREWICK. F. J. July 31, 1951. No. 18057/51. Class 78 (i). Material is sucked up pipe 33 Fig. 1, and contacts rotating sleeve 5 so that the material is discharged from housing 3 through pipe 52 and the air passes through pipe 17 into pump 45 and is discharged from the pump round pipe 49 and into housing 3 to effect the said discharge through pipe 52. Rotating sleeve 5 is mounted in bearings, is driven by pulley 8 and carries cone 10, Fig. 3, the end of which cone is closed by disc 18 which carries adjustable baffle 21 and is rotatable on bearing 15 and carries rubber flap valve 19 which engages with rotating cone 10 so that the disc 18 and baffle 21 are caused to rotate. Sleeve 35 is adjustable by the threaded hand-wheel 39 along the inside of sleeve 5 to vary the rate of feed. The rubber flap valve 19 acts intermittently to release a plug of material whenever the material piles up sufficiently to choke the escape of air into pipe 17.
