[Also in Group XXIX] The speed of a prime mover is controlled by an eddy current drag governor operating the engine throttle either directly or through an electric or fluid pressure servo link. Governor.-May comprise various arrangements, Figs. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 (not shown), in which a .copper-cup lies in an annular gap between a multipolar magnet and its keeper which revolve together as a unit, the magnets being (a) inside, or (b) surrounding the keeper, or the keeper and cup may form a unit substantially fixed relative to the rotating magnet. Servo systems.-(i) The governor may operate a slide valve controlling a piston-type fluid pressure servomotor connected to the fuel pump lever, Fig. 3 (not shown), or (ii) it is stated that the governor may operate, e.g. a rheostat controlling a throttle - operating solenoid.
