Abstract

542,760. Automatic control systems. AKTIEBOLAGET BOLINDER-MUNKTELL. Dec. 21, 1939, No. 32713. Convention date, Jan. 4. [Class 38 (iv)] A shaft 20 rotating in dependence on the speed of an engine rotates a soft iron ring 51 about a permanent magnet 50 carried by a shaft 52. The ring 51 is provided with a short-circuited winding which may be constituted by copper bars extending axially in conductive connection with non- magnetic end rings. The magnet and shaft are thus given a turning movement dependent on the speed, which is caused to act on a throttle valve 27 of the engine, either directly or indirectly against a spring 29. Reverse motion of the engine may be prevented by a second throttle valve 53 similarly actuated, or the shaft 52 may have lost motion connections with the valve 27 which respectively act on the valve when the motion is direct or reverse to move the valve to throttled position. The spring 29 may be replaced by a ring and magnet device similar to the parts 50, 51 adjustable by axial movement.
