Abstract
690,005. Rolling mills. KOCKS GES., F. March 1, 1951 [March 2, 1950], No. 5025/51. Class 83 (iv). In a tube reducing rolling mill comprising a number of roll stands in which the peripheral speed of the rolls varies from stand to stand, speed varying means having two or more speed changes are arranged between the rolls and their driving means and are simultaneously controlled by a common control. Roll stands 1 are driven through change-speed gears 10, Fig. 2, from shafts 2, 3 which are driven by motors 4-7 or are interconnected and driven by a single motor. Alternatively the gears 10 are driven by individual constant speed electric motors. The change-speed gears comprise driving gears 16, 17, Fig. 6, on shafts 14, 15 engaging two-speed transmission gears 18 operated by levers 22 from a common control. The change-speed gears 10 may have more than two changes or may be replaced by hydraulic or friction wheel drives.
