Abstract

1443327 Rolling tubes MANNESMANNMEERAG 16 Oct 1973 [15 Dec 1972] 48240/73 Heading B3M A stretch-reducing tube rolling mill comprises stands 1-8 in tandem, the driving shafts for the stands enabling three-roll or four-roll units to be selectively housed in the stands. Each stand (except stand 1 which serves as a threeroll inlet unit) has a driving motor 49, distribution drive 40, drive shaft 35, gear unit 20, and a pair of further drive shafts 11, 12 (Fig. 2). In the case of a three-roll stand, the shaft 11 is coupled to one of the rolls 51 via a coupling 19, whereas the shaft 12 is unused. For a four-roll stand, both shafts 11 and 12 are connected to respective rolls (Fig. 4, not shown). The stands 2-5 may each have three rolls defining a circular pass, and the stands 6-8 have four rolls and a square pass. Two gear units 20 of adjacent stands, each having gears 13-16 (Fig. 2) may be arranged in a common housing 17.
