Abstract

1,076,205. Continuous rolling. MORGARDSHAMMARS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS A.B. July 10, 1964 [July 10, 1963], No. 56503/66. Divided out of 1,076,204. Heading B3M. A continuous rolling mill for rod, wire and strip includes a number of mill units each consisting of a first stand, having rolls 52, 53, and a second stand with rolls 50, 51, the first stands forming an aligned train and being connected by repeaters 31, 32 to the second stands. Material passing from the aligned train to a second stand passes beneath a first stand, Fig. 3 (not shown), and through a repeater (31). A repeater (32) returns the material to the first stand of the same unit. In each unit the rolls of the two stands are staggered, the rolls (50) and (52) being in alignment. This allows normal driving of the roll pairs by their respective motors (57) and (61) and gear-boxes (56) and (60) and also allows each of the rolls (52) and (53) to be driven by a separate motor. In this latter case the roll (53) is driven by motor (61) through gear-box (60), and roll (52) is driven by motor (57) through gear-box (56), coupling (54), roll (50), and disconnootible coupling (63), the coupling (59) being disconnected. Different roll diameters can thus be used for the two rolls (52) and (53). The rolls of the second stands can be vertically disposed if desired.
