Apparatus for finishing hot or cold rolled bars employs three stands 2 following the last stand 5 of a conventional mill, the stands 2 having the same roll gap as each other and being driven from a common motor 4. The idling speeds of the stands 2 are equal, but the final stands are driven through overrunning clutches 3 to allow for elongation of the bars.
