975,510. Rolling. I. PROPERZI. July 24, 1961 [Aug. 1, 1960], No. 26667/61. Heading B3M. In a tandem rolling mill for metal bars and wires each stand is driven by the same motor, but successive stands are driven at increasingly higher speeds. The drive from a motor 1 is taken to first shafts 6 and 6<SP>1</SP>, to secondary shafts 12 and 32, by means of spur gearing, and then, through bevel gearing, to each of the four sets of rolls 25-28, 21-24, 43-46, and 48-52, the number of teeth on the spur and bevel gears determining the roll speeds in each stand.
