Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the normal operation continuable even if any trouble happens locally, by providing the rolling apparatus with a rolling stand capable of performing the idling pass. CONSTITUTION:A cast billet discharged from the rotary casting machine 1 is successively passed a vertical rolling roll 5, a horizontal rolling roll 6, the first roughing mill 8, a vertical rolling roll 13, the second roughing mill 12, a hot finishing mill 15 and a cold rolling mill 17. The said four rolling mills 5, 6, 8, 12 respectively comprises two rolling stands or rolls and are provided with a preliminary rolling stand or rolls 5B, 6B, 8B, 12B on respective downstream side. Meanwhile, the vertical rolling roll 13 comprises six rolling rolls 13A-13F and the hot finishing mill 15 comprises five rolling stands 15A-15E. By the present arrangement, even if a trouble happens in a part of the rolling apparatus, the troubled part can be changed over to the idling pass. Moreover, the cold rolling mill 17 also comprises six rolling stands 17A-17F so that its any troubled part, if happens, can be switched to the idling pass.
