Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of camber of the rolling material by giving large roll separating force to the side of smaller mill stiffness and eliminating the roll opening difference owing to the separating force difference of both sides in the rolling mills with which the work side and drive side are independently adjustable. CONSTITUTION:Roll separating force is given by the work roll balance device or work roll bender device 8 disposed to the work side WS, drive side DS between work roll chocks 7, 7. If there is a difference in the mill stiffness of both sides, the separating force is given to the side of smaller mill stiffness. Thence, in the set-up by screws, the screws are moved to eliminate the opening difference of the work side WS and drive side DW between the work rolls 5, 5 and let the mill rigidity curves of the both sides coincide. When rolling is done in this way, the camber of the rolling material owing to mill stiffness difference does not occur at all.
