Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the profiles of plate sections and to improve flatness by using variable crown rolls for at least one of intermediate rolls and backup rolls in a downstream side stand. CONSTITUTION:A variable crown roll is used for at least one of the backup rolls 3 of a downstream stand 1. In the case of multistage rolling mills, variable crown rolls are used for at least one of intermediate rolls and backup rolls. The kinds of rolling mills may be either of hot or cold and the roll disposition is essentially multiplex type rolling mills. Thereby, the profiles of plate sections are improved and flatness is enhanced.
