Abstract

A roll block for rolling wire, rods, pipes or planar metallic material comprises a plurality of exchangeable roll stands 2 which are disposed closely in series in a roll line and which comprise several rollers 11 which are held by one common C-shaped frame, each roll stand being provided with a distributor transmission 13 , connection shafts 26 , a diverting gear 30 and driven shafts 25 for the purpose of driving the rollers. At least one, preferably all transmission steps between the distributor transmission 13 and connection shaft 26 and between the diverting gear 30 and the connection shaft 26 are formed as crown gears in order to create a smaller roll block which can be produced in a more convenient manner.
