A brush comprises a carrier for sets of brushing elements said brushing elements being fixed in strips of resilient material which are mounted in undercut grooves in the carrier. In the form shown in Fig. 2 the carrier 2 is detachably secured to a dished back body 1 and carries the brush elements, e.g. bunches or clusters of bristles 3 which are fixed in rubber insert strips 4 slid into correspondingly-shaped grooves 5 in the carrier, each strip carrying a row of bunches of bristles. The mounting holes for the bristles may be extended by short tubular, thin-walled projections 6. Holes 7 may also be provided in the carrier between the resilient strips and if the carrier 2 is of sufficiently flexible material. the dust accumulated between the brushing elements will be sucked up during the brushing operation through the-holes 7 into the hollow brush body. The holes 7 may be extended by nozzle-like projections 8 as shown on the righthand side of Fig. 2. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the carrier 9 is of relatively small thickness and is shaped to provide grooves 5 in which are inserted rubber strips 4 carrying massage pins 11 of two different types. The pins are made of tough plastic material and are provided with swellings 12, 13 arranged at or near their inner ends, the swellings 12 fitting in holes provided in the strips. In this form also the carrier 9 may be provided with holes (not shown in Fig. 3) such as 7 (Fig. 2) to ensure withdrawal of the dust.
