Abstract
687,995. Variable-speed and reversing gearing. LYNN TRANSMISSIONS PROPRIETARY, Ltd. March 14, 1951 [March 20, 1950], No. 6181/51. Class 80 (ii). In epicyclic gearing variable with load, the sun wheel 13 is formed on the driven shaft 9, the gear annulus 5 is formed in a ring 3 secured to the driving member 2, and the member 2 and the planet carrier 7 have inner and outer conical surfaces 4, 8a between which are arranged tapered rollers 19 which latter also have recessed teeth meshing with teeth 6, 14 on the surfaces 4, 8a, so that, on supplying pressure fluid to the space. A, the carrier 7 is moved axially to the right, tending to jam the rollers 19. The carrier 7 has a duplicate part 26 secured thereto and cooperating through tapered rollers 31 with the inner conical surface 24 of a ring 22 secured to the stationary housing 23, so that, in supplying pressure fluid to the space B, a variable reverse drive is transmitted.
