Abstract

689,925. Hydromechanical variable speed gears. PILKINGTON, H. F. Oct. 4, 1951 [Oct. 6, 1950], No. 24433/50. Class 80 (ii). [Also in Group XXIX] The annulus 5 of an epicyclic gear is secured to the input shaft 1 and to the driving member 4.of a fluid coupling, the driven member 6 of which is connected to the carrier 9 of planet wheels 10, the sun wheel 11 being connected to the output shaft 2. The driven member 6, is slidable on, but is keyed to, a sleeve 7 surrounding the shaft 2 whereby the torque transmitted may be adjusted (see Group XXIX).
