687,502. Toothed gearing. NORMAND ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. June 4, 1951 [June 6, 1950], No. 14156/50. Class 80 (i). A casing for a reduction gear unit comprises a main portion 2 with an aperture 9 at one end to receive the driving unit, such as an electric motor 16, and an aperture 11 at the other end adapted to be closed by a plate 28 having a bearing 33 supporting the driven shaft 34. One or more layshafts 22, 25, which carry gears forming a train between a gear 18 on the motor driving shaft and a gear 35 on the driven shaft, are supported between an integral web 5 intermediate of the ends of the casing portion 2 and an integral flange 10 of the casing portion 2.
