Classes 20(iv) and 87(i) In a wall of concrete slabs supported at intervals by uprights each slab is held against the longitudinally channelled faces of two spaced uprights by means of two projections extending from the slab, one being grouted in the channel of each upright, the disposition and shape of the projections being such that abutting edges of adjacent slabs in a course overlap a common upright into the channel of which the projections enter so as to lie one above the other. The abutting side edges 1a of wall slabs are staggered in superimposed courses and at each junction an upright 2 is located on a plinth or base course. An outwardly splayed projection 6 extends from the rear pair of the slabs at diagonally opposite corners of each side for reception in a channel 10 on the outward face of the upright. A corner is formed by L-shaped or curved slabs 1b with their projections engaging in a pair of uprights set at right angles. The slabs are held in position during erection by loops of string or flex 13 secured to staples in the channel base, a wedge 14 being inserted in the loop or behind a rod 15 threaded through it so as to press the slabs against the channel walls. Grouting is then poured into the channels as each course is laid, and when it is set the wedges are removed and the loops cut back. Recesses 11 provided at intervals along the side walls of the channels serve as keyways for the grouting. For attachment of concrete window or door joints to the adjacent upright a channel wall of the upright or a portion is cut away for replacement by the jamb, which is cemented to the slabs by the channel grouting.
