Abstract

1281673 Securing insert for concrete structures ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 9 Jan 1970 [10 Feb 1969] 1220/70 Heading E1W A insert 10 for casting into the edge or corner of a concrete slab comprises a secondary element 14 for example of foamed plastics, which is positioned within a channel shaped element 12 so as to exclude concrete from immediately behind at least a part of a longer leg portion 16 of the channel into which a fastening element 20 may be driven after the concrete has set, the longer and shorter channel legs 16, 24, each having means such as foot elements 30, 32 and 28 for preventing both lateral and vertical displacement of the embedded insert. The foot elements may include apertures for keying with the concrete. The insert may be secured to shuttering by nails driven through small aligned openings in the legs 16, 24. The channel 12 may be of metal, preferably of steel. The fasteners 20 are used to attach building wall sections 18 to the insert.
