Abstract

526,171. Building-bricks. SHAW, A. G. March 8, 1939, No. 7467. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] A building block with both faces glazed is provided with grooves T, V along its horizontal and vertical edges forming in a built up partition a keyway for reception of pourable cementitious material to provide an interlocking continuous keying or bonding, the vertical grooves V being wedge shaped and the horizontal grooves T deeper at the middle part and having round holes 7 leading therefrom which may be continuous or blind. The partition wall shown extends from a main wall and is supported at its front end by a foot block 8 between which and the main wall extends a bearer bar 9 with rib 10 to key into the grooves in the edges of the blocks, each course terminating in a T- shaped block 11 provided at the top and bottom faces with recesses T' for receiving the cement. These terminal blocks 11 have vertical holes 12 for a reinforcing rod 13 and one side wall of one of these blocks may be cut away to accommodate a hinge 14 carried by an L-shaped plate 15 one end of which is engaged in one of the recesses and retained by the rod 13.
