Abstract

1338608 Damp-courses; wall-ties ECONA (G & B) PLASTICS Ltd 19 April 1971 [13 June 1970] 28714/70 Headings E1B and E1J Two structural elements of a building, e.g. two sections of a brick wall (Fig. 4), two sections of a concrete floor, or a wall and a door or window frame (Fig. 11), are separated by a damp-course which comprises a dovetailcorrugated strip 20 of carrosion-resistant, liquid-impermeable material, e.g. plastics, the recesses in the strip serving as keys to receive mortar from one or both of the structural elements to secure the strip. The recesses may serve additionally as anchorages for wall-ties 54. The damp-course may be disposed horizontally or vertically in a wall or floor; or vertically at the end of a cavity wall, either within or across the end of the cavity, in which case a door or window frame 86, 164 may be secured to the strip 20 and thereby to the wall. More elaborate strip cross-sections are also described. The damp-course may be of rigid p.v.c. or polyethylene, or plastics-coated metal.
