Abstract
613,513. Walls; window frames; building elements. DELOFFRE, P. M. C. May 14, 1945, No. 12036. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1944. [Classes 20(ii), 20(iii), 20(iv) and 87(i)] In a wall construction using vertical prefabricated elements of a height corresponding to that of one storey of the building, and providing enclosed spaces for receiving concrete, the said elements are of U-section and are assembled side by side with the limbs of one of each pair of adjacent elements abutting the intermediate part of the other element of the pair, and means are provided for maintaining the elements in abutting relationship The interfitting wall blocks 1 shown in Figs. 1 and 2a have recesses 4 at their lower ends which fit over vibrated concrete keypieces 5 arranged end to end and anchored by their lower parts 5<1> to the concrete belting course 6 cast between mould elements 20, 21 stayed by guides 22 upon which the ends of the keypieces 5 are initially supported (see Figs. 7 and 8). Oak, concrete or metal cotters 11 press each wall block against its previouslyerected neighbour, fully closed wallblocks 1<1>. Fig. 2a, being first erected at corners, &c., and reinforced concrete cast therein, to form starting posts. At their upper ends, any wall blocks which are to remain empty are sealed by a cap 16 forming a bed for the upper reinforced concrete belting course 17, cast similarly to the course 6 between the mould elements 23, 21. At the top storey, an element incorporating a cornice may replace the mould 23 only, or both moulds and the upper part of the belting lying between them; over windows, &c., the element 23 may extend down to the frame of the opening. In Fig. 4a, a monolithic window block 26, comprising a sill, jambs and lintel, and incorporating a roller blind compartment, is topped by a mould element serving the same purpose as the cap 16, and is supported on short wall blocks 1b. Facing panels 14, of plaster having a thin ceramic lining 14<1>, or wholly of weather resistant material, are wedged by oak, concrete or metal keys 15 to dove-tailed projections 12 on the wall blocks, these projections being also used during casting of the course 17 to hold vertical bars 24 forming temporary supports for the mould elements 23.
