Abstract

454,156. Door frames. WEDBERG, A. G. W., 68, Ostermalmsgatan, Stockholm. March 21, 1935, Nos. 8850 and 16913. [Class 20 (iii)] A metal door frame 1, of substantially U-shaped section, as shown in sectional plan in Fig. 1, has inturned inclined flanges 5 provided with portions 6, 7, 8 respectively parallel to the side and jamb portions of the frame by which it is held in position by engagement with projections 36 formed on anchor plates 35 placed between the courses of wall blocks 32. The flange parts 6, 7, 8, which may also engage the wall blocks, according to the width thereof form a reinforcement in the mortar 37 which occupies the space between the wall blocks and frame. Plaster 38 is applied to the faces of the wall blocks, the thickness of the layer being determined by the edges 4 of the door frame member. The method of connection of the vertical and horizontal frame members is shown in sectional side elevation in Fig. 6, in which the jamb portion 1 of a vertical member is cut at the top to fit the inturned flanges 5<a>, 9<a> of the lintel member and a tongue portion 1<b> engages a slot in the horizontal member, the tongue being bent over to clinch the flange 5<a>. A brace for holding the metal frame while the wall blocks and anchor plates are positioned, comprises an upright held between the floor and ceiling by wedges, two horizontal arms, and hook-shaped rods, which pass through the horizontal arms and engage the inturned flanges of the door frame.
