685,342. Making cycles. SOC. ANON. POUR L'INDUSTRIE DE L'ALUMINIUM. Dec. 8, 1950 [Dec. 16, 1949], No. 30125/50. Class 83 (ii). [Also in Group XXXI] A bicycle frame is made from a metal bar 1, Fig. 1, in the form of two parallel tubes 2 joined by an intermediate web 3, which may be made by extrusion. A light metal tube 1, Fig. 2, is bent to the shape of a frame and the web 3 is milled away to form the rear forks 4, 5 which are slightly bent apart and joined at the ends by riveting or metal adhesives to connecting pieces 6 which support the rear axle. The saddle support tube 7 is inserted through a re-inforeing sleeve 8 secured by a lock-nut to the web 3 and is screwed or secured by metal adhesives in the pedal bearing 9 which is riveted to the web 3 at the base of the frame. The bearing tube 13 for the front fork 10 has flanges which are riveted to the web 3. Specifications 629,111 and 630,647 are referred to as disclosing suitable metal adhesives.
