684,979. Luggage attachments. K.A.C., Ltd. Aug. 9, 1951 [June 6, 1950], No. 14136/50. Class 136 (i) A pannier bag carrier comprises a back plate 1 securable to a bicycle or motor cycle frame in a vertical plane by anchorage clips and having a large number of slots 19 in its surface for the selective passage of bolts 20 which secure the clips to the back plate in any of a plurality of alternative positions, some of the slots being arranged transversely of the others. Each carrier has at least two clips connecting it to the motor cycle frame. One clip connects the carrier to a stay 38 of the frame (Fig. 3) and the other attaches the carrier to the edge bead 30 of the adjacent mudguard 31 (Fig. 4). A shelf 2 is hinged to the plate 1 by means of lugs 6, 7 on the plate and shelf respectively bent around a pin 5. A length of spring metal wire 10 is rotatably mounted in a beading 11 on the shelf 2 and its end portions form a pair of stays 8, 9 which tend to resiliently separate to engage the outer ends of slots 13, 14 formed in the plate 1. The lower slots 13 are of inverted L-shape and are engaged by hooks 12 on the stays 8, 9 when the shelf is in its horizontal operative position. Cranked parts 15 of the stays prevent the shelf from being accidentally raised. When the upper slots 14 are engaged by the stays the shelf is retained in the stowed position.
