Abstract
684,867. Securing race rings to shafts. SPIETH, R. June 26, 1950 [June 30, 1949], No. 15840/50. Class 80 (ii). [Also in Group XXXIV] In mounting means for a ball or roller bearing, the inner race 3 is secured on a shaft 4 by a clamping sleeve 1 having recesses 10, 12 forming link portions 14 which are subjected to a jamming action when the sleeve is axially expanded or compressed. The sleeve may be axially expanded by nuts 2 acting on the race 3. The clamping sleeve may be integral with the race ring. As shown in Fig. 8, portions 29, 30 may be axially compressed by rings 32 screwed into extensions of the bearing race 3. A double row bearing may be clamped on a shaft 4, Fig. 6, by a clamping sleeve 1 having an integral flange 18 at one end and a tightening nut 2 at the opposite end of the sleeve. A spacing member 20 is located between the inner races 3a, 3b. Various modifications of clamping sleeves are shown in Figs. 2 to 5.
