Abstract

684,795. Potato peelers. MILLE, N. J. DE. Sept. 21, 1951 [Oct. 16, 1950], No. 25136/50. Class 28 (ii). In a potato peeler in which the rotary base 26, 32, of the abrasive surfaced cylindrical container 7 is driven by bevel gears and shafts by turning a handle 15a the gears and shafts and the rotary base are carried by an L-shaped frame 10, Fig. 4, which is integral with or secured to the container. Another casing 8 integral with and extending from the side of the cylinder 7 forms a housing for the side gearing comprising the vertical spindle 12 and bevel gears 13, 14 and 17, 17a. The casings and frame 10 may be die cast. The frame 10 has a downwardly extending boss 22 carrying a stub shaft 24 to which is clamped the integral' bevel gear 25 of the rotary base 26 driven from a bevel gear on the shaft 18. A dished strainer 27 may be removed for emptying by pulling down the knob 27c whereby the spring clips 27a are freed from depending projections on the frame 10.
