Abstract

686,043. Potato peelers. LAMB, H. T. July, 12, 1951 [Sept. 26, 1950], No. 23542/50. Class 28 (ii). Potato &c. peeling devices are mounted inside the rotated bowl of a mixing machine such as described in Specification 663,502, [Group II], such devices comprising an abrasive cylindrical casing 11 placed in the bowl and a bottom abrasive disc 5 rigidly coupled by its spindle 6 to the dolly spindle 4 of the mixer. The casing 11 is coupled for rotation along with the bowl 1 by projections 12 engaging with an internal toothed ring 2 on the top of the bowl. The bottom disc 5 is held against rotation by a bent out projection 9 of the arm 6 which projection fits into a recess 3a of the arm 3 which carries the dolly spindle 4. A transparent cover disc 13 is secured in position along with the dolly spindle 4 by a swivel hook 14. The abrasive casing 11 and the abrasive disc 5 may be fluted or corrugated and may be of stainless steel with rough sprayed-on fragments of stainless steel or carborundum, or they may be perforated.
