Abstract
684,347. Cattle guards. SPENCE, W. L. May 18, 1951. [June 3, 1950; June 27, 1950] Nos. 13910/50 and 15958/50. Class 104 (ii). A precast concrete pitless cattle grid has the main wheel track formed with bars of truncated triangular cross-section. The bars as shown at A and B in Fig. 1 have a rounded top and may haive straight or hollowed sides. A cycle track formed of light shallow section concrete bars C with rounded tops may be loosely supported in notches in kerbs E, E<SP>1</SP>, above a shallow trench in the middle of the main track A, A<SP>1</SP> as shown in Fig. 3 or at the side thereof. The bars C may also be held together by a locking rod passing through holes in the centre thereof. The second Provisional Specification describes a main track bar comprising a hollow half cylinder or inverted U rocking on a half cylinder base of slightly smaller radius formed on the foundation slab.
