[Also in Division E1] Hollow reinforced concrete columns are moulded in a three-sided mould, the lower plate 1 being flat, curved, castellated or V-sectioned (as shown), and the side plates 2 and 3 being flat or grooved (as shown, or as in Figs. 10d- 10g, not shown). The core is formed by side plates 8 and 8<SP>1</SP> and opposed channel-sectioned plates 9 and 9<SP>1</SP> held apart by a parallelogram device (Fig. 6) operated via a tube 14 at one end, to move the channels 10 and 10<SP>1</SP> with respect to each other. It can be locked in the extended position by a key 18 (Fig. 9, not shown), passing through holes 17. The plates 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, 9 and 9<SP>1</SP> are covered by a permeable fabric sleeve 19 impregnated with oil and soap prior to the introduction of the core into the mould, where it is supported by stop-ends 6 (Fig. 12, not shown) outside the annular stop-ends 50 (Fig. 11, not shown), which can be clipped into different positions along the mould. L-sectioned concrete beams are cast using a mould with a vertically adjustable interior side wall, to allow the reinforcement to project sideways out of the beam, and the parallelogram device described above may be employed to give varying depths to the webs of T-beams cast in a single mould (Fig. 17, not shown).
