Abstract

684,319. Pressure gauges. SAUNDERS VALVE CO., Ltd. July 19, 1950 [June 15, 1949], No. 15964/49. Class 106 (ii). [Also in Group XXIX] Pneumatic-pressure responsive means for opening a diaphragm valve V, Fig. 1, against a closing spring 2 comprises an annular, flexible-walled chamber 6 to which air under pressure may be admitted through a connection 8. The arrangement permits the passage through the centre of the chamber of a valve actuating-link 1 without the necessity for packing. According to Fig. 2, the chamber is bounded by a shaped flexible diaphragm 19 secured at its outer and inner edges to the valve housing and transmitting motion to a diaphragm valve-member through a spindle 23 and a plate 27 loaded by adjustable springs 39. Instead of a plurality of springs 39 a single spring may be used.
