Abstract

799,024. Valves. KROMSCHRODER AKT.-GES. G. Dec. 14, 1954 [Jan. 8, 1954; Jan. 25, 1954; Jan. 30, 1954], No. 36145/54. Class 135. [Also in Group XXVIII] An installation comprises two fluid handling devices, e.g. valves, filters and meters 11, 4, connected in series to a pipe fitting 13 having a double connecting socket 5 containing two separate ducts 6, 7, one of the devices 4 having a double connecting socket 8 and the other device 11 having two double connecting sockets 1, 2 connecting it to the fitting and the first mentioned one device. Gas passes via 6 around a pressure regulating valve seat 23 controlled by a flexible closure member 18 carried by a ring 15 on a weighted diaphragm 12. Gas then flows into the gas-meter 4 via passage 9 and leaves via passages 10, 22. The flow path around the seat 23 forms a venturi, the reduced throat pressure being conveyed via passages 17, 171 in ring 15 to the chamber below the diaphragm 12. This together with the diaphragm 19 compensates the droop in the flowpressure characteristic of the regulator. In another embodiment the diaphragm loading weight 14 is carried beneath the outer peripheries of the diaphragms 19, 12. In two further embodiments, the device 11 comprises two passages controlled by separately-actuated coaxial lift valves or by a rotary cock.
